Kidding Around August 2012. The Halbert family.

Happy July everyone,

I hope that you have been enjoying your summer so far.

I have the nice job of being the staff photographer for the Kidding Around newspaper, Cape Cod edition. Each issue profiles a local family and a leader in children's education.  This month the paper interviewed the Halbert family.  Jen, the mom, is a friend of mine and owns Dulce Press, a custom print shop that specializes in wedding invitations and programs. The store located in her design studio offers many unique favor ideas and specialty gift items. Be sure to drop by Mashpee Commons and say hello.

These photos were some of my favorite from the short session we did yesterday at their home.  John has lovingly restored this Chevelle, and he was so pleased to get the car out of the garage for the photos. Cali, Lyra and Gwynn just love to go for rides in dad's toy.

Be sure to pick up August's free issue of Kidding Around newspaper at libraries,  Ryan Family amusements, and the Children's Museum in Mashpee.  Look for my ad and coupon in this issue.

Baby Jennifer

http://animoto.com/play/2ggwA0ImAFv0gHcAd0f18Q

I had the pleasure of meeting the very young Miss Jennifer Flores Evans at the beginning of this month.  Jennifer is the daughter of one of my bellydance friends, Claudia.  Jennifer was born on May 18th, 4 days early.  Luckily we had our session already scheduled.

The baby was not too happy about what we were doing to her, but we got some very cute portraits out of the experience.  I hope you enjoy this short video of my favorite images.

Boudoir shoot at Setting the Space, Plymouth

So this week has been really busy, as you can see...

I had the pleasure of spending Monday with 5 lovely ladies as we collaborated on a photo shoot in Plymouth.  Blair and the rest of the gang at Setting the Space were very accommodating, and we had the store all to ourselves after hours. Dorothy & Olivia from Cape Model & Talent Agency were two of the models, and my friend Katie was the third.

Katie and I arrived first and had the luxury of using natural light for the beginning of her portraits.  I just love the glamorous look of her dark hair and light skin.  Don't you just get lost in those luscious brown eyes? Never having modeled before, I think she did a splendid job.

Dorothy is a professional model and the co-owner of the agency.  She was perfect in the light ivory shades of her clothes and the taupe of the bed linens. Knowing how to pose made my job so easy!

Olivia is an experienced model and the daughter of Dorothy's business partner, Keith. She was very sweet and we enjoyed mixing her look up a bit to showcase her youth.

We had a lot of fun even though we all had a bit of sensory overload due to the fabulous merchandise at the store.  It took a while for the people walking by the window to figure out what we were doing, and we got a lot of strange looks.  Overall it was a great evening.

There are so many images that I'm sure I will LOVE, but I haven't had a chance to look at all of them yet.  So, here are just a few in a sneak peek...

April & Cliff's engagement session

I had the pleasure of spending some time with April & Cliff this evening. We met at Cold Storage Beach in Dennis, and the weather was just PERFECT!!!  Mother Nature did not disappoint. We had a light breeze to add some movement to April's lovely blonde hair, and the light was just magical.

April's niece, Nikki was on hand to avert any potential hair disasters and to help create natural smiles.  I may just put her on the payroll for those extra uncomfortable clients.

April & Cliff will be married on September 14th of this year, I can only wish for weather just like today.  These are just a few of my favorite images from tonight's session.  Enjoy!

Tom & Yuliya

Saturday, June 16th was a beautiful day  in more ways than one. It started out with sunny skies, but gradually changed to clouds. But, no matter!  It was Tom & Yuliya's wedding day.

I had met Tom over 10 years ago when I did his HS Senior portrait, so being part of his wedding was extra special for me. The shy boy has become a generous and confident young man with absolutely no inhibitions about showing his affection for his lovely bride. Yuliya is originally from Belarus, but has been in the US for about 6 years.  I had the pleasure of meeting her in May for the first time. Her shy demeanor is belied by her wicked sense of humor, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her. Yuliya is truly beautiful inside and out.

We headed to Dowses Beach in Osterville for the beach ceremony, but Mother Nature did not cooperate.  The decision was made to move the ceremony to the reception location, so the guests and family made their way to Harbor Point.  I insisted that we wait just a few more minutes to see if the rain would stop. After a brief rain shower, we had the perfect soft light for the bridal portraits. A little wind added some fun to the experience. It was chilly, but the wedding party were steadfast in their cooperation.

Overall the day was filled with laughter and joy. It was a pleasure to be involved. Congratulations to the adorable couple!

Lillian

Today was a great day.  I got to spend over three hours with the Myette family.  Greg, Jen & Grace welcomed the newest member of the family on February 15th.  Lillian was the most cooperative 5 day old I have ever met.  She allowed us to manipulate her into any number of ridiculous poses, change scenery and add funny hats.

Here are a few of my favorites from the 3 hour session.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.

The Bridal Event, February 12, 2012

Hi again.  It's nice to be back.  Last weekend I had the pleasure to participate in the 2nd Annual Cape & Islands Wedding Group bridal Event.

Our host was New Seabury Country Club.   We were spoiled by having the entire building as our playground. I met many 2012 brides, grooms and families.  Several couples for 2013 weddings were in attendance and I even spoke to one 2014 bride.  There is no such thing as too much advanced planning for a Cape Cod Wedding.

The show was a great success with all of the members of C&IWG creating beautiful displays for the guests to enjoy.  It was a long but worthwhile day.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from the event.
